An exploration of the different cultures in our country: the importance of Dvorak to American music, the role of black composers in symphonic music with William Grant Still, and the significance of American folk music with Copland and the Hoe Down. It would be great to have dancers to perform a Hoe Down while we play. Additionally, exploring Latin dance traditions with the Mambo and the South American dance called the Romacero, which was popular among Indian and African Slave Cultures.
